Peppers require a well-drained, fertile and warm soil, with a pH around 6.5. Plant in full sun. Space 12"-18" apart. When planting, amend the soil with a fertilizer containing phosphorus and calcium to ensure a good harvest. Water peppers only when they are dry, as root rot can become a problem if they are kept too wet.
